Since Ravil's arrival in New Zealand in 2009 this American-born teacher, conductor and director has established himself as one of the country’s most important voices on performing and singing technique. Ravil received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from San Jose State University in California in Vocal Performance where he also studied orchestral and choral conducting. He received his acting training at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and continued acting studies with coaches in Los Angeles and New York.
Ravil has more than 30 years professional experience as a performer including Broadway and opera, performing the leading tenor roles in more than 70 professional productions worldwide and accumulating more than six years in long-running Broadway musicals 'Les Miserables' and 'The Phantom of the Opera' as well as many regional productions. He was the Course Leader and designed the curriculum for the Musical Theatre Studies Foundation Degree (university level) at Newcastle College in the UK and Director of Vocal Studies at the Theater Artists’ Institute in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ravil has collaborated with Grammy, Tony and Academy Award winners. He now maintains a flourishing singing and acting studio, is active as a theatre, singing,
and choral consultant and choral and orchestral conductor. He is the director of the Specialist Music Programme (SMP) in voice at Burnside High School, supervisor of voice and choirs at the Christchurch School of Music and is Artistic Director of the AtlasVoices Ensemble (formerly Pro Arte Chorale). He has presented workshops and masterclasses, performed with or conducted many of the country's leading arts institutions including the CSO, Showbiz, National Youth Choir, Southern Opera, National Singing School, NASDA, MENZA, NZCF/ADA and many others
